Zelensky: Russia Has To Really Feel War Worse Than Peace

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Russia should really get to feel that war is worse than peace, so sanctions are required to make this happen.

This was stated in an evening address to the nation by President Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukrinform reports with reference to his Telegram channel.

“And this is precisely why sanctions are needed, especially against their oil trade. Also, steady defense support for Ukraine, to protect our people, to protect our positions,” he noted.

Zelensky also reported on a conversation with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz as the parties decided to pace up the implementation of the agreements reached during the Ukrainian leader's visit to Berlin.

"I spoke today with German Chancellor Merz. We are accelerating the implementation of our agreements reached during my Berlin visit. I briefed him on the meeting in Turkey. All of us in Europe need an end to this war and a truly reliable peace. This is critical," he said.

In addition, Zelensky recalled that today he had a call with the President of Finland to discuss the diplomatic capabilities of the two nations. The focus was also on the negotiations in Turkey, interaction with the U.S. and Ukraine's other European prospects, which are important not only for Ukraine. The Head of State of Ukraine expressed gratitude to President Stubb for his support.

"Today, a meeting was held at Ramstein, and it is important that this format of our cooperation with partners is maintained. We are preparing a decision to support our joint defense production with partners. This is long-term security – these are our guarantees, European guarantees, guarantees for everyone that Russian aggression will not be able to expand and neither will it be rewarded," Zelensky noted.

As Ukrinform reported, the President of Ukraine on May 28 visited Germany where he met with Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The two leaders discussed, among other things, the issue of the supply of Taurus missiles to Ukraine.
