Russian Agent Detained In Kharkiv For Directing Strikes On Ukrainian Command Posts

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained a 32-year-old employee of a construction company who was acting on behalf of Russia's FSB Federal Security Service to adjust missile strikes on backup command centers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kharkiv.

According to Ukrinform, the SBU reports that the man took a job at a construction firm specifically to assist Russian forces in targeting newly built Ukrainian military facilities. While installing ventilation systems in underground shelters at reserve command posts, he obtained their coordinates and passed them to the enemy.

In addition to transmitting geolocations, he provided the Russians with details on the engineering features of potential targets. To avoid detection, he deleted all correspondence with his handler from his phone after each communication session.

SBU cyber specialists uncovered and documented the agent's contacts with Russian operatives, and he was arrested at his residence during the final stage of the operation.

Simultaneously, the SBU carried out special measures to secure the affected military sites.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect also recorded the movement of Ukrainian armored vehicles heading toward the front line. He covertly filmed these movements on his phone while returning home from work.

Based on the collected evidence, SBU investigators charged the individual under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - high treason committed under martial law.

He is currently in custody without the possibility of bail. If convicted, he faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The SBU, with the support of Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko and the command of the National Guard of Ukraine, recently detained another Russian agent in a National Guard assault brigade in Kharkiv.
