Brazil's Egg Exports To UAE Show Decline

(MENAFN- Brazil-Arab News Agency (ANBA)) São Paulo – Brazilian egg exports expanded by 295.8% in May compared to the same period last year, reaching 1,354 tonnes, according to data released on Tuesday (10) by industry group ABPA. The year-to-date increase in volume is 165.6%, totaling 18,357 tonnes. Despite the positive results, sales to one of the main egg markets, the United Arab Emirates, are in decline.

According to ABPA data, the United States is the leading importer of Brazilian eggs, with a total of 9,735 tonnes and an increase of 996% between January and May of this year compared to the same period last year. It is followed by Chile, with imports of 2,354 tonnes and a 10.8% increase over the same comparison, and the UAE, with 1,422 tonnes and a 13.8% decrease compared to last year.

In value terms, Brazilian egg exports totaled USD 13.7 million in May, an increase of 356.2% compared to May 2024. Year-to-date exports grew by 195.8%, reaching USD 42.1 million.

“The egg sector has seen a significant increase in exports amid a reconfiguration of shipping flows that now places the U.S., Japan, and Mexico among the leading destinations of Brazilian products. Even with the suspensions resulting from the isolated outbreak of Avian Influenza, exports remained strong, demonstrating the confidence of markets in Brazil's biosecurity,” said ABPA president Ricardo Santin in a statement.
