UK Sanctions Two Israeli Occupation Ministers For Inciting Gaza Violence

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) LONDON, June 10 (KUNA) -- Britain on Tuesday imposed sanctions on two Israeli occupation ministers for "inciting" violence against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli Occupation National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich "have incited extremist violence and serious abuses of Palestinian human rights," the BBC quoted UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy as saying.
The ministers will face a travel ban on entering the UK and will have all assets they own in the UK frozen as part of the sanctions announced, according to the BBC.
Slamming the Israeli occupation ministers' actions as "unacceptable", the UK foreign secretary said that the sanctions were an effort to "hold those responsible to account."
The sanctions taken against Smotrich and Ben-Gvir "cannot be seen in isolation from events in Gaza where Israel must uphold international humanitarian law," said a UK foreign office statement. (end)
