In a move that promises to transform the way government schemes reach rural communities, the District Administration of Shopian is set to launch the Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan from June 15 to June 30, 2025.

These awareness and benefit saturation camps will take place in two tribal villages: Kathohallan, from June 15 to June 22, and Pahlipora, from June 23 to June 30.

Both are located in the Block Keller area of the district, an area known for its tribal population.

This campaign is part of a larger initiative under the Government of India's Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh, which will see similar efforts rolled out across 549 tribal districts and 207 PVTG (Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group) areas nationwide.

The goal is to ensure that no one is left behind, particularly in remote areas where service delivery often falls short.

During a press briefing on Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner Shishir Gupta called on the people of Shopian to take full advantage of these upcoming camps.

“I urge the public to come forward, participate wholeheartedly, and ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left behind,” Gupta said.

The camps will act as a one-stop platform for accessing a wide range of government services. They will focus on crucial areas such as health, education, and financial inclusion. Services like Aadhaar registration, the Ayushman Bharat health card, bank account openings under Jan Dhan Yojana, and access to agriculture and welfare schemes will be provided.

Additionally, residents will have the chance to secure electricity connections, drinking water supply through the Har Ghar Nal Se Jal scheme, skill development opportunities, and more.

“We are working to make sure every eligible beneficiary is covered,” Gupta explained.“These camps will address service delivery gaps, and we are ready to identify and register beneficiaries on the spot.”

Every relevant department is preparing baseline data, and dedicated officers will be present to resolve any issues immediately. This ensures that the process will be smooth and responsive to the needs of the community.

But these camps aren't just about services, they're also about fostering public involvement.

DC Gupta emphasized the importance of Janbhagidari, or public participation, in ensuring the success of the initiative. He called on community leaders, youth groups, PRI representatives, and civil society organizations to spread awareness and ensure maximum participation.

“This initiative is about empowering tribal communities,” Gupta added.“We want to honour their heritage and make sure they benefit fully from government schemes.”
