Famed St. Sophia Cathedral Damaged In Russian Air Raid Targeting Kyiv

"This night, the enemy struck again at the very heart of our identity. The St. Sophia Cathedral that's been damaged in Kyiv is a shrine that has survived centuries and symbolizes the birth of our statehood. The blast wave caused the destruction of the cornice on the main apse of the monument of national significance. This 11th-century temple is the soul of all of Ukraine," Tochytskyi wrote.

He noted that the Odesa Film Studio also suffered damage this night, with its pavilions, warehouses, decorations, and vehicles damaged. According to the minister, decorations for the Dovzhenko movie, a national project telling a story of Ukraine's most acclaimed film director, was completely destroyed.



"Russia is not only at war with our cities, they are waging war against our culture, memory, and future," the minister added.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, in Kyiv, after a massive Russian air raid overnight Tuesday, two injured civilians remain in hospital while four affected residents received outpatient medical assistance.
