Amman, June 10 (Petra) – On the anniversary of His Majesty King Abdullah II's ascension to the throne, ambassadors from allied and friendly nations have lauded him as a leader embodying a rare combination of strategic vision, moral steadfastness, and a humane approach qualities they feel are increasingly rare in today's world.
In interviews with the Jordan News Agency (Petra), the diplomats stressed that King Abdullah's consistent and balanced policies are built on wisdom and moderation. This approach, they emphasized, serves Jordan's progress and prosperity, and champions just Arab and international causes, particularly the Palestinian issue.
They noted that many world leaders now visit Jordan, valuing His Majesty's insightful guidance on various regional and global matters.
The ambassadors extended their congratulations to King Abdullah II and to Jordan on Royal Accession Day, seeing it as a symbol of the wise and forward-looking leadership that guides the Kingdom's confident journey forward.
French Ambassador Alexis Le Cour Grandmaison highlighted the alignment of views between France and Jordan on many regional and global issues, evident in the close relationship between King Abdullah II and President Emmanuel Macron.
Under their joint leadership, the two countries continue their long and productive cooperation, especially in efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza and deliver urgent humanitarian aid. Ambassador Grandmaison announced that an international conference on the two-state solution, co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia in close cooperation with Jordan, will take place at the United Nations from June 17 to 20, 2025.
He emphasized that Jordan, like France, has been a historic supporter of the two-state solution, aligning with His Majesty's vision. France, he added, strongly supports His Majesty's firm stance against any forced displacement of the Palestinian people.
The Ambassador affirmed France's unwavering commitment to fighting terrorism alongside Jordan, including through the Aqaba Meetings, which King Abdullah initiated and leads.
He remarked, "We will never forget His Majesty's support for France when it was subjected to terrorist attacks, support that came from a country that has suffered greatly from terrorism."
He also pointed out that both France and Jordan are members of the Global Coalition against ISIS, contributing to regional peace and stability.
Furthermore, he noted France's support for Jordan's initiatives to promote interfaith harmony, specifically the UN resolution on World Interfaith Harmony Week, proposed by His Majesty in 2010, and the Amman Message, launched by His Majesty in 2004 as a symbol of religious tolerance.
He also acknowledged Jordan's unique role in preserving the historical status of holy sites in Jerusalem.
Kazakhstani Ambassador Talgat Shaldanbay affirmed that Royal Accession Day symbolizes Jordan's journey of wise and steady leadership under His Majesty.
He shared that for Kazakhstan, Jordan has always been a spiritually connected country, sharing not only a constructive approach to international affairs but also a common desire for peace based on mutual respect, dialogue, and spiritual values.
He stressed the particular importance of King Abdullah II's personal role, not just for the Middle East, but for the entire world.
Ambassador Shaldanbay reiterated that King Abdullah II demonstrates a rare blend of strategic vision, moral strength, and a humanitarian approach qualities that are uncommon globally today.
He added that His Majesty's firm and principled stance on major global issues, from peaceful conflict resolution to promoting religious coexistence, is deeply respected in Kazakhstan. He also expressed high appreciation for Jordan's strong efforts against extremism and its contribution to regional security.
The Ambassador emphasized that Kazakhstan, where approximately 130 ethnic and religious groups have peacefully coexisted for a long time, highly values and strongly supports Jordan's initiatives to promote interfaith harmony.
He noted that these efforts align well with Kazakhstan's own initiatives, especially the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Astana, where Jordan has regularly participated.
He specifically praised King Abdullah II's personal involvement and speech at the 2015 Congress in Astana, viewing it as a valuable contribution to the global dialogue that both nations are jointly committed to.
He also mentioned that personal discussions between the two leaders are very important in Kazakh-Jordanian relations. Ambassador Shaldanbay added that the visit of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan to Amman in February of this year was a significant step in bilateral cooperation.
He stated that high-level talks confirmed their shared understanding regarding regional security, fighting extremism, and strengthening humanitarian ties. Kazakhstan, he concluded, highly values Jordan's balanced foreign policy and its strong dedication to lasting peace.
He shared, "In my daily diplomatic work in Amman, I have consistently seen how the values expressed by His Majesty openness, tolerance, and dignity are truly present in Jordanian society."
He affirmed that these are not just words, but characteristics that define the Jordanian national model, and this approach is what makes Jordan a vital partner and trusted friend to Kazakhstan in the region.
He ended by wishing the Kingdom continued prosperity and King Abdullah II continued health, well-being, and new successes in promoting peace and stability.
Omani Ambassador Sheikh Fahad bin Abdul Rahman Al-Ojaili remarked that King Abdullah II's policy is steadfast, balanced, and rooted in wisdom and moderation, aimed at Jordan's elevation and prosperity, and defending Arab causes, especially the Palestinian issue.
He underlined that defending the Palestinian cause is a core principle in King Abdullah II's thinking and diplomacy, consistently present at all levels, with no other file or issue taking precedence, despite all the challenges and pressures facing Jordan.
He stated that Jordan's foreign policy, under His Majesty's leadership, has successfully adapted to all internal and external changes over the past years.
He noted that Jordan has become a destination for most world leaders, due to their belief in the King's sound judgment on various regional and international issues. He added that King Abdullah II has built Jordan's relations with all countries on solid foundations of trust, cooperation, and respect.
He highlighted Jordan's presence and respected influence in all international events and organizations, along with its prominent humanitarian role and support for many countries and peoples during difficult times, whether through sending relief and logistical aid, or by spreading awareness of the message of peace and Islam, interfaith dialogue, and peaceful coexistence through his continuous meetings with religious figures from various faiths, or through his visits to holy sites around the world.
He affirmed that Jordan, under the leadership of King Abdullah II, is at the forefront of countries fighting terrorism and extremism through a comprehensive approach based on legislative, intellectual, security, and military dimensions.
He explained that Jordan's stance on terrorism and extremism fundamentally stems from the Hashemite leadership's message and the cultural makeup of the Jordanian people, who respect moderation and reject extremism and the use of religion to spread violence, hatred, and incitement to terrorism.
British Ambassador Philip Hall, on behalf of the United Kingdom, extended "warmest congratulations to His Majesty and all Jordanians on the anniversary of His Majesty's Accession to the Hashemite Throne." He added, "We greatly value the strong ties between our countries and His Majesty's tireless efforts for peace, stability, and modernization."
Ambassador Hall further stated, "We welcome his leadership in promoting interfaith harmony, his Custodianship of the Holy Sites, and his work in countering global terrorism. We wish His Majesty continued good health, wisdom, and success."
Palestinian Ambassador Attallah Kheiri stated that since assuming his constitutional powers in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, King Abdullah II has played a central and pivotal regional and international role at various levels.
He exerts arduous and tremendous efforts to achieve a just, comprehensive, and sustainable peace in the Middle East, ensuring security, stability, and prosperity for all peoples and states in the region.
He indicated that His Majesty believes this desired peace can only be achieved through the principle of the two-state solution: establishing a fully sovereign, viable, and independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, on the June 4, 1967 borders.
Ambassador Kheiri emphasized that King Abdullah II has remained committed to this principle, promoting, advocating for, and defending it in all international institutions, forums, organizations, and bodies.
Bilaterally, His Majesty utilizes Jordan's strong relations with other countries worldwide to convince them of this principle, to the extent that it has now become a global demand.
He noted the anticipation for the "Two-State Solution Conference" to be held on the seventeenth of next month at the United Nations, co- chaired by France and Saudi Arabia, with Jordan playing a key and fundamental role in this conference.
Ambassador Kheiri added that in addition to His Majesty's efforts to achieve just and comprehensive peace in the region and end existing conflicts and disputes, King Abdullah II plays a significant humanitarian role in promoting religious coexistence, building bridges of cooperation and understanding between different religions and civilizations, consolidating relations between them, rejecting differences, and strengthening bonds of affection and love among followers of monotheistic religions.
He highlighted that Jordan is characterized by very strong bonds between its various religions, making it difficult to distinguish between their followers due to the strength of their fraternal relations.
They share religious celebrations without any discrimination, and everyone's rights, duties, and full religious freedoms are protected without any influence or interference. Jordan, he concluded, is considered an outstanding model in this field.
He further noted that His Majesty has taken a firm and strict stance against terrorism and terrorists, vigorously combating the sources, channels, and spread of terrorism regionally and internationally.
This, he explained, is where the Amman Message originated more than twenty years ago, under supreme royal directives. The message focused on several key principles, including justice in treating others and protecting their rights, honoring human beings regardless of color, gender, or religion, respecting covenants and pledges, prohibiting treachery, and emphasizing balance, moderation, and mediation.
It also aims to promote moderation and tolerance in Islam, clarify the true nature of Islam, and deepen dialogue between religions and civilizations.
