Qatar Red Crescent Carries Out Eid Sacrificial Project In Several Countries
Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has successfully implemented a large-scale Eid Al-Adha sacrifice project 'Udhiya is Blessing' across multiple countries, providing meat to vulnerable families and reinforcing the values of solidarity and social support.
The initiative, carried out in partnership with local Red Crescent societies and local humanitarian organisations, has so far benefited over half a million people, reinforcing food security and the values of solidarity and compassion during the blessed holiday, according to information shared by QRCS on the X platform.
In a major component of the campaign, QRCS has completed the first phase of its Eid Al-Adha sacrifice project aimed at supporting approximately 500,000 beneficiaries. A total of 12,810 sacrifices have been allocated for families in the Gaza Strip.
Livestock were carefully selected, examined, slaughtered, butchered, packaged, and frozen. The meat is currently being prepared as partially cooked and sauced canned meals, ready for delivery into Gaza as soon as border crossings reopen, God willing. This effort ensures not only safe delivery under current access constraints but also long-lasting food support for families in need.
In partnership with local organisations in Djibouti, Chad, and Tanzania, along with the Chadian Medical Organization, QRCS distributed sacrificial meat from cows and goats during the first two days of Eid Al-Adha. The distributions reached multiple regions, benefiting approximately 22,838 individuals in need.
As part of the Adahi-Campaign 2025-1446H campaign, QRCS's office in Niger, in coordination with the local organisations, distributed meat in the capital Niamey and the city of Tillabéri. This effort supported 5,150 families, or about 34,502 beneficiaries, aiming to alleviate hunger and improve food security.
Thanks to generous donations from Qatar, QRCS implemented the sacrificial meat distribution in various districts across Bangladesh. Around 4,500 families, equaling 22,500 individuals, benefited from the programme. The project sought to improve food access and promote social solidarity amid the country's challenging economic conditions.
In the presence of the heads of the Afghan Red Crescent in Zabul and Nangarhar provinces, the QRCS mission in Afghanistan, in collaboration with the Afghan Red Crescent Society, carried out a distribution targeting 7,840 individuals from the most impoverished families.
With the participation of the Sudanese Minister of Health and the Governor of Al-Qadarif State, QRCS's Sudan office, in cooperation with the Sudanese Red Crescent, launched its sacrifice project during the first and second days of Eid. The project benefited 3,676 families, or approximately 25,732 individuals, including poor and displaced families residing in shelters across the municipalities of Greater Al-Qadarif, Al-Faw, Basonda, and Al-Shawak.
