Meida reports female shot, arrested outside CIA headquarters
(MENAFN) A woman was shot and taken into custody early Thursday morning outside the CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, according to multiple U.S. media outlets. The incident occurred around 4 a.m. when a vehicle approached the main gate of the intelligence agency’s compound and failed to stop despite orders from security personnel.
The driver, identified by NBC News as 27-year-old Monia Spadaro, reportedly sustained non-life-threatening injuries after being shot by guards. She was then apprehended. Some reports suggest the vehicle may have crashed into the gate. Spadaro is known to law enforcement and has a prior DUI conviction, though it remains unclear whether she was under the influence during the incident.
The CIA confirmed a “security incident” but did not release further details, instead instructing employees to avoid the main entrance and use alternate routes. The agency has not issued any additional updates, and the gate reportedly remains closed.
This is not the first such event at the CIA’s perimeter. In March, another individual was arrested after allegedly brandishing a firearm and issuing threats at the same location. That standoff ended without violence but required a heavy law enforcement presence, including FBI agents and a bomb squad from Fairfax County.
