Canada In Talks With US To Join 'Golden Dome' Missile Plan
Speaking at a news conference in Ottawa, Carney said "We are conscious that we have an ability, if we so choose, to complete the Golden Dome with investments in partnership (with the US). And it's something that we are looking at and something that has been discussed at a high level."
Carney cautioned about new and growing missile threats, warning thatآ "in the not too distant future could come from space," adding that his government takes those threats "seriously".
Canada and the United States are partners in the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), that is responsible for theآ defense of the airspace over both countries.
Canada is also seeking to diversify its trade and security alliances amidآ fraying ties with the US.
It recently announced a review of a major purchase of US-made F-35 fighter jets and etched an agreement with Australia to develop Arctic radar systems.
