Africa prepares for high-level security conference in Moscow
(MENAFN) Russia’s annual global security forum is set to see broad participation from African nations, with 45 delegations from over 40 African countries and several continental organizations, including the African Union and IGAD, confirming their attendance. The 13th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues will be held in Moscow from May 27 to 29 at the ‘Russia’ National Center, chaired by Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu.
The discussions will focus on strengthening ties between Russia and Africa, building on agreements made during past Russia-Africa summits. A special briefing will be held to address the geopolitical shifts affecting Global South and East countries, with African nations increasingly asserting their foreign policy priorities. The Russian Security Council emphasized Russia’s commitment to supporting African nations in maintaining their sovereignty and pursuing their own development paths.
Since its inception in 2010, the international meeting has provided a significant platform for addressing global security challenges, including terrorism and drug trafficking. This year, the forum will host over 125 delegations from more than 100 countries, alongside representatives from 14 international organizations.
