(MENAFN- PRovoke)
SINGAPORE - AI firm OpenAI has picked Grace Chua as its new head of communications for Southeast Asia (SEA).
"Excited to share that I've joined OpenAI to help shape conversations around AI innovation and impact across Singapore and Southeast Asia," wrote Chua in a LinkedIn post.
Chua was previously the corporate communications lead, Singapore, at Google. She joined the team in 2022 as its executive communications lead for SEA before being promoted.
Prior to her stint at Google, Chua was with Experian aas its chief impact officer. This was a voluntary role to drive corporate giving and employee volunteerism in the Singapore office, she said on Linkedin. Chua was responsible for defining and implementing CSR initiatives that were in line with the strategic direction of the organization.
OpenAI recently opened an office in Singapore late last year. The news was announced in October last year. At the time, OpenAI said that it had started building a team in Singapore-a hub from which it will support customers and partners throughout the region-to strengthen relationships with local and regional governments, businesses, and institutions across APAC.
"Through this new local presence, OpenAI will be able to work more closely with Singapore government partners, such as the Economic Development Board (EDB), to support Singapore's local AI ecosystem and help shape an AI-powered future that benefits everyone," EDB said in a statement at the time.
