Putin-Xi discussions persisted for seven hours
(MENAFN) Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping engaged in more than seven hours of discussions in Moscow, culminating in the signing of nearly 30 new agreements, according to Russian news agency TASS.
The signed documents span a wide range of areas, including joint declarations to strengthen their strategic partnership, promote global stability, uphold international law, and expand cooperation in fields such as space and agricultural exports.
Following the talks, President Putin described the meeting as highly productive, saying the two nations had set "ambitious goals" for the future. These include expanding trade and investment, enhancing economic collaboration, increasing joint high-tech initiatives, and developing advanced methods for electronic commerce.
Putin noted that China remains Russia's top trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching a record $245 billion this year. He also highlighted around 90 key joint projects currently underway or in development, collectively valued at approximately $200 billion. These cover vital sectors like industry, transportation, agriculture, logistics, and mineral resources.
President Xi praised the partnership, calling both Russia and China “stabilizing and progressive forces” in the global arena. He emphasized their shared commitment to fair multilateral cooperation and the importance of continued solidarity.
Xi is among over 20 foreign leaders attending Moscow's Victory Day events commemorating the 80th anniversary of Nazi Germany’s defeat. During their talks, Putin also expressed gratitude for Xi's invitation to attend China's own celebration marking victory over Imperial Japan in September.
