Iraqi Prime Minister, UNRWA Commissioner General Discuss Ways To Support The Agency
Baghdad: Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al Sudani and the Commissioner General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, discussed on Sunday ways to provide support to the agency.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister's office, the two sides reviewed UNRWA's efforts in fulfilling its mandate and delivering services amid the challenges and direct attacks it faces from Israeli occupying forces. They emphasized the importance of halting the ongoing aggression, expediting the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza, and opening the border crossings.
During the meeting, Al Sudani reiterated Iraq's readiness to support UNRWA's efforts, a commitment reflected in the initiatives Iraq proposed during the Arab and Development Summits held Saturday in Baghdad, including the suggestion to establish a fund for the reconstruction of Gaza.
