Ho Chi Minh's Birth Anniversary Commemorated In Doha
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The embassy of Vietnam in Doha has marked the 135th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh, the founder of modern Vietnam.
Vietnamese ambassador Nguyen Huy Hiep explained that President Ho Chi Minh (born Nguyen Sinh Cung, later known as Nguyen Tat Thanh while studying, and Nguyen Ai Quoc during his revolutionary activities, before finally adopting the name Ho Chi Minh) was born on May 19, 1890 and raised in a time when Vietnam was under colonial rule.
He witnessed numerous patriotic movements rising up against French colonialism, only to be defeated due to the absence of a correct revolutionary path.
From a very young age, Ho Chi Minh made the decision to travel abroad in search of a path to national salvation.
During nearly 30 years living and working in various countries, he undertook many occupations, actively participated in revolutionary movements around the world, and never ceased to fight for the independence and freedom of his own nation.
“To the Vietnamese revolution, Ho Chi Minh was a man of decisive actions at pivotal moments,” Nguyen said.“When the national struggle was at a crossroads, he discovered the correct revolutionary path for Vietnam.”
“He was the founder of the Communist Party of Vietnam – the leading force of the revolution, the founder of the Viet Minh Front and the Vietnam People's Army – the revolutionary force that carried out the revolution,” the envoy continued.“He led the people in a general uprising to seize power for the people and establish a new government – a government for the people, by the people, and of the people."
Nguyen stressed the growing strong Qatar-Vietnam relations.
He said that more culture activities and arts exhibitions from Vietnam are set to be held in Doha.
The envoy also said that the number of Qataris travelling to Vietnam is steadily increasing.
The embassy is set to organise more activities in collaboration with the concerned entities in Vietnam to further promote the country as a tourist destination for the people in Qatar.
