(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)
Aqaba, May 13 (Petra) –Tenders and Supplies Directorate at Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) issued 256 purchase orders and 3 major tenders during the first quarter of this year, worth approximately JD3.6 million, according to its chairman, Amjad Obeidat.
During a meeting chaired by the ASEZA Chief, Nayef Fayez, Obeidat said the directorate is currently supervising 70 projects listed on the e-project tracking system.
Of these projects, he announced 36 have been "successfully" completed, 13 others are underway, and 21 new enterprises are in preparation.
Obeidat noted this process is done in "effective" coordination with the relevant authorities to ensure smooth preparation, tendering, and implementation processes, in accordance with the specified timetables.
Obeidat noted the directorate is participating in "strategic" projects in Aqaba, mainly expansion of the ASEZA's warehouses, implementation of the e-government procurement system for supply and engineering tenders, and development of the Oracle system to meet digital requirements.
Additionally, he referred to Prince Hamzah Youth City expansion project, which will be re-tendered after the Ministry of Youth completes the relevant documentation.
On its future steps, Obeidat stated the directorate seeks to "fully" automate warehouse procedures and create a unified record for suppliers across the Kingdom, which would be linked to relevant entities.
