Brazilian Companies Seek Saudi Clients

(MENAFN- Brazil-Arab News Agency (ANBA)) São Paulo – Starting next Sunday (11), six Brazilian companies will participate in a trade mission to explore the food and beverage market in Saudi Arabia. Through the Halal do Brasil project, the company representatives will meet with local supermarkets, distributors, and entrepreneurs, and will visit the Saudi Food Show, the largest food industry fair in the country.

The Halal do Brasil project is spearheaded by the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC ) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) to promote Brazilian halal food and beverages abroad. Halal products are those made according to Islamic rules. In some markets, such as Saudi Arabia, it is required that products have a halal certificate to be sold.

According to the Internationalization Projects Manager at the ABCC, Fernanda Dantas, the trade mission aims to immerse Brazilian companies in the Saudi market.“It's about opening doors, creating opportunities for companies to start exporting, and next year, participate in the Saudi Food Expo,” she says.

The trade mission will include commodity trading company Suplicy Consulting; trading company Masterint, which deals in commodities and processed goods; acai, pitaya, and cupuaçu sorbet manufacturer Yalla Brasil; non-alcoholic fruit syrup producer Stock; and frozen bread manufacturer Pão e Arte.

On Sunday (11), the companies in the mission and Brazilian companies participating in Saudi Food at the ApexBrasil booth will attend the seminar“Brazil-Saudi Arabia Connection” at the Brazilian embassy in Riyadh. During this event, representatives from Saudi Arabia, the embassy, and the ABCC will present opportunities and characteristics of the local market. Potential Saudi importers are being invited to this seminar.“We want this to be a moment of exchange and interaction,” says Dantas.

After the seminar, the mission participants will have a meeting at the Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry, where they will also meet with food buyers. From there, they will proceed to a meeting with a local distributor.

On Monday (12), they will spend the day at the Saudi Food Expo, where they can prospect clients and get to know the companies operating in the country. On Tuesday morning (13), they will be received by representatives of Lulu hypermarket chain, one of the largest in the Gulf, followed by a meeting with a local distributor. In the afternoon, the group will head to Jeddah, one of the largest cities in the country, located on the Red Sea coast.

On Wednesday (14), they will have a meeting with companies at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as with executives from retail chain Al Jameel Food. On Thursday (15), the commercial mission participants are scheduled to visit the Jeddah Port and another food distributor. On Friday (16), there will be another technical visit to a supermarket chain before they head back to Brazil.

Dantas says the meetings with distributors are already an opportunity for Brazilian exporters to present their products. During meetings with retail chains, they can learn about the purchasing processes of these companies as well as the behavior and profile of their consumers. Representing the ABCC, the mission will include the Director of Institutional Relations, Fernanda Baltazar, the Head of the Chamber's office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Rafael Solimeo, and International Business Executive Ahmed Kamal.
