AfriForum Make Attempts to Reconcile with ANC

(MENAFN) Following international attention and diplomatic friction sparked by its appeal for the United States to penalize African National Congress (ANC) leaders, AfriForum is now attempting to reconcile with the ruling party.

The civil rights organization and its partners convened with the ANC on Tuesday to deliberate on matters of “common interest” within South Africa. The Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) played a mediating role in the discussions.

AfriForum CEO Kallie Kriel verified the meeting with IOL news, underscoring the necessity of strengthening collaboration between the two entities.

While refraining from disclosing specific details of their conversation, Kriel described the dialogue as vigorous and candid.

He stated, “We all realised there’s a need to find solutions to these issues raised, but of course, we will communicate in due course as the process comes to a point that we have reached something.”

Kriel further added, “We actually agreed because this is early in the start of the process that the various parties would not comment at this stage any further than what is in the statement.”

The ANC corroborated this sentiment in a formal statement, affirming that all involved parties are dedicated to discovering "South African solutions" as they strive for a diverse and unified nation.
