Ukraine's Proposal For 30-Day Ceasefire Remains In Force - Zelensky

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Ukraine's offer to introduced a 30-day ceasefire remains in force in order to give diplomacy a chance.

This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky in an evening video address, Ukrinform reports.

"Ukraine and our proposal to stop the strikes, to cease fire for at least 30 days remains in force – we are not withdrawing that proposal, which can give diplomacy a chance," he informed.

The Head of State emphasized that it is from Russia that the world sees no response to the proposal, except for new strikes.

"This demonstrates as clearly and obviously as possible for everyone who is the source of the war. Russia must end its aggression, and they will have to do this. It is a matter of time. War is a loss for everyone, in particular for the aggressor," Zelensky emphasized.

The President noted that sanctions against Russia over the war they are waging will increase,“and these are tangible sanctions.”

“Justice of the world will also work – unfortunately, slowly in many ways, but, importantly, inevitably. And we are preparing news to this end, we are accelerating justice,” he added.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on April 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin unilaterally declared a“ceasefire” for May 8-10 in honor of Victory Day, which is celebrated in Russia on May 9.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said there is no need to wait for May 8, as Putin announced, because ceasefire could be introduced immediately.

White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt, commenting on Putin's statement, said U.S. President Donald Trump wanted to see a permanent ceasefire in Ukraine in order to stop the bloodshed.
