India reveals locations it targeted during coordinated military strike inside Pakistan
(MENAFN) India has revealed the locations it targeted during a coordinated military strike inside Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, carried out in the early hours of Wednesday. The operation, named Operation Sindoor, involved the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force and focused on nine sites alleged to be linked to terrorist organizations.
According to New Delhi, the targets were primarily camps operated by Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad, two Pakistan-based militant groups accused of multiple cross-border attacks. The Indian government claims the strikes were in retaliation for a recent terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir that left 26 civilians dead.
Among the main targets was the Sawai Nala camp near Muzaffarabad, around 30 kilometers from the Line of Control (LOC). India identified it as a key training hub for Lashkar-e-Taiba fighters responsible for past attacks in Gulmarg, Sonmarg, and Pahalgam.
The Syedna Belal camp, also in Muzaffarabad, was said to be used by Jaish-e-Mohammad to train militants in weaponry, explosives, and survival skills before crossing into Indian territory.
In Kotli, the Gulpur camp allegedly served as another Lashkar-e-Taiba facility, where militants responsible for attacks in Rajouri-Poonch and on a bus carrying Hindu pilgrims were trained. The Indian government also linked this camp to a visit by 2008 Mumbai attack planner Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi.
Nearby, the Abbas camp, about 13km from the LOC, was described as a center for preparing suicide bombers.
The Barnala camp, located in Bhimber roughly 9km from the LOC, reportedly functioned as a basic training site for recruits, focusing on weapons use and jungle warfare.
Lastly, the Sarjal camp in Sialkot, close to the international border, was linked to a deadly attack in March this year in which four Indian police officers were killed.
