Trump Hints at Major Gaza Announcement

(MENAFN) United States Leader Donald Trump indicated on Wednesday that an official statement regarding the crisis in the heavily bombarded Gaza Strip is expected within a day.

"We're going to see what's happening. A lot of talk going on about Gaza right now. You know that, right? So you'll be knowing probably in the next 24 hours," Trump remarked, following a previous hint about a "very big announcement."

When questioned on Tuesday, Trump refrained from clarifying the details of the anticipated announcement but emphasized that it would be "as big as it gets."

Despite the ambiguity, he stressed that the announcement would be "very positive" and could be revealed as early as Thursday, aligning with the timeframe mentioned for the Gaza-related news.

It remains uncertain whether Trump was referring to the same topic in both instances.

However, his special representative for Middle East affairs, Steve Witkoff, is reportedly scheduled to update the United Nations Security Council on a joint US-Israeli initiative designed to streamline the distribution of humanitarian assistance in Gaza.

Previous accounts indicated that Israel's Security Cabinet had recently endorsed a plan involving private American security firms to distribute aid directly to civilians in the Palestinian enclave.

Despite this, the United Nations and numerous humanitarian agencies active in Gaza have firmly opposed the proposal, contending that it breaches established global humanitarian standards.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also publicly voiced his disapproval of the plan last month.
