West Bank Detainee Dies in Israeli Custody

(MENAFN) A joint statement from the Palestinian Commission of Detainees' Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners' Club announced the death of Nasser Radaideh, a 49-year-old Palestinian prisoner from Al-Ubeidiya in Bethlehem, in an Israeli hospital on Sunday. Radaideh had been transferred to Hadassah Hospital from Ofer Prison the previous day, according to the statement. He had been in detention since September 2023 after being shot by Israeli soldiers.

The Israel Prison Service confirmed the death of a West Bank prisoner who had been transferred from Ofer Prison to a hospital but did not provide additional details in their press statement.

Hamas issued a statement condemning the death, calling it as "a violation of all international and humanitarian conventions and a war crime."

The death of Radaideh brings the total number of Palestinian prisoners who have died since the beginning of the Israeli war against Palestinians on October 7, 2023, to 65, with at least 40 of these individuals originating from the Gaza Strip. Official Palestinian figures indicate that Israel is currently holding over 9,900 Palestinian prisoners.
