PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): All obstacles hindering extraction of Mes Ainak copper mine have been removed, so the contracting company must launch practical extraction work, Logar officials said on Monday.
Maulvi Mohammad Anwar Dinparwar, deputy governor of southern Logar province, told a gathering that all of the issues in the way of extraction of copper from Mes Ainak copper mine have been removed.
“So the contracting company (Metallurgical Corporation of China, MCC) is asked by the people and government officials to practically launch the extraction process of the mines.”
The local government administration is also ready to help and solve all problems in the way of extraction of the mine, he added.
He asked MCC company to build school, health facility and roads that connect the mine area to other routes.
Representatives of the contracting company also assured participants of the gathering that they were using their efforts to launch practical extraction on the mine.
Abdullah, a resident of Mohammad Agha district, told Pajhwok Afghan News, officials of the company had promised several times during the past few years to launch extraction process, but there was no sign of such work in the area.
He urged the government to solve entire problems in the way of the extraction of the mine and issue an ultimatum for practical work over the mine.
The contract for extraction of Mes Ainak copper mines was signed with MCC company on April 25 2008, but so far extraction work could not be launched.
