UK denounces Palestinians deaths as Israel renews attacks, calling it 'appalling'

(MENAFN) On Tuesday, the British foreign secretary condemned Israel's recent airstrikes on Gaza, which claimed the lives of more than 400 Palestinians, describing the civilian casualties as "appalling."

David Lammy stated in a post he shared on X: "All parties must re-engage with negotiations to get hostages out, surge aid, and secure a permanent end to this conflict."

He emphasized that "diplomacy, not more bloodshed," is the key to achieving lasting security for both Israelis and Palestinians.

The Israeli military launched its deadly airstrike campaign early on Tuesday, breaching a ceasefire covenant with Hamas, which had been in effect since January 19. The Palestinian Health Ministry reported that more than 404 Palestinians were killed, with many more sustaining injuries. Disturbing images revealed that the majority of those killed were civilians, the majority of whom are women and children, whose homes were targeted overnight.

Since October 2023, Israel’s military offensive in Gaza has led to the deaths of more than 48,500 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, with more than 112,000 others injured in the ongoing violence committed by Israeli military forces.
