Head Of Afghanevac: US State Dep't Explanation On Afghan Relocation Unclear, 'We Owe Afghans A Straight Answer'
On Tuesday, March 18, VanDiver stated in a video on his X account that the U.S. Department of State must clearly explain whether former Afghan allies of the U.S. military are included in the travel ban list to the U.S. alongside several other countries.
He added that Tammy Bruce had avoided providing a clear response to a question about the fate of former Afghan partners of the U.S. military and instead resorted to vague generalizations rather than offering a direct explanation.
According to him, if the list is implemented, as it was under Donald Trump's administration, Afghan citizens, even with a visa, will not be allowed entry into the United States.
He further stated that the list would halt the relocation of eligible Afghans, such as former interpreters of the U.S. military, to the United States.
The head of AfghanEvac also wrote on this X account,“We owe Afghans a straight answer. Lives are at risk, and we need clarity.”
The spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State had announced in a press conference the day before that Afghans who had worked with U.S. forces and agencies are not on the travel ban list.
According to his statement, this decision was made to support those Afghans who worked alongside U.S. forces, and these individuals can still apply for visas and travel to the U.S.
It should be noted that Trump, on his first day back in the White House, suspended all refugee acceptance programs.
Recently, CBS News reported that over 40,000 Afghans, who have been cleared for travel to the U.S. and granted permission to leave Afghanistan, are now in a state of uncertainty.
