Madaba, March 18 (Petra) -- Prime Minister Jafar Hasan, convening a cabinet meeting in Madaba on Tuesday, announced a suite of development initiatives aimed at bolstering local infrastructure and public services, while simultaneously delivering a strong condemnation of Israel's renewed assault on Gaza.
A cornerstone of the announcements was the commitment to constructing a modern, comprehensive hospital facility for Al-Nadeem Hospital, beginning this year.
The project, budgeted at JD60 millionfor construction, with an anticipated total outlay of approximately JD80 million including state-of-the-art equipment, is slated for completion within four years.
Complementing this, a new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line will connect Madaba and Amman, featuring eight buses operating on a structured timetable, with 52 daily trips facilitated by direct government support.
Prime Minister Hassan underscored his government's dedication to executing projects jointly agreed upon with elected local councils, adhering to current and future budgetary allocations.
He emphasized a citizen-centric approach to governance, stating, "This government prioritizes the needs of its citizens, and there is no place within the public sector for those who lack that same commitment."
He acknowledged the importance of firsthand observation in informing policy development, stating, "Our on-the-ground experiences directly influence our development plans and enable us to address urgent needs with timely solutions."
Furthermore, the government detailed ongoing efforts to enhance Madaba's tourism infrastructure, including the completion of the second phase of the Christian Pilgrimage Trail and the imminent opening of the Dhiban Visitors Center.
The government also pledged to expand vocational education, highlighted by the creation of the Dhiban vocational school for boys, aligning with the BTEC vocational education system, reflecting an increased emphasis on skills-based training aligned with market demands. This represents a sustained commitment to both current and future progression.
Turning to the economy, he expressed confidence in the Kingdom's resilience, anticipating significant foreign investment and strategic project launches over the next two years.
Addressing the Palestinian crisis, the Prime Minister emphasized that His Majesty the King's diplomatic initiatives are fundamentally aimed at bolstering Palestinian resilience in their homeland.
This strategy, he asserted, represents the only credible pathway to secure their legitimate rights, especially their entitlement to establish a sovereign state within the June 4, 1967 boundaries under the two-state solution.
The Prime Minister underscored the Kingdom's unwavering position on the Palestinian question a stance His Majesty has consistently articulated through Jordan's three cardinal principles: rejection of displacement, opposition to permanent resettlement outside Palestine, and refusal to accept the so-called "substitute homeland" proposition.
He characterized Israel's aggression on Gaza as "an assault on humanity itself," urging the international community to act and halt what he described as brutality against innocent women and children.
Hassan specifically condemned the weaponization of hunger as a deliberate tactic to drive Palestinians from their ancestral territories despite their determination to remain.
