Baghdad, Paris Discuss 3Rd Edition Of Coop. Conf.


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD, March 15 (KUNA) -- Iraq's Prime Minister Mohammad Al-Sudani and French President Emmanuel Macron discussed on Saturday the possibility of holding the third edition of Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership.
During a telephone call, the two sides covered some files and issues of common concern, in addition to regional topics, and approved forming a bilateral team to set a time of Macron's visit to Baghdad.
The call also showed identical views regarding the new political process in Syria, affirming the need of combating terror and extremism, Iraqi cabinet's media office said in a statement.
They further agreed on the need of achieving stability in Lebanon, and boosting efforts on rebuilding Gaza, consolidating the truce and preventing any escalation caused by violating the truce.
On Iran, Macron and Al-Sudani said it is imperative to find a peaceful solution and solve disputes through dialogue, the statement noted.
Macron vioced France's desire to continue cooperation with Iraq in different fields, affirming readiness to coordinate with Iraq to combat terror, it added.
The first and second editions of the conference were hosted by Iraq in August 2021, and Jordan in December 2022 respectively. (end)
