Putin: Ukrainian Troops In Kursk Must Surrender
KABUL (Pajhwok): Russian President Vladimir Putin has asked Ukraine to order its troops in Kursk region to surrender, a media report said on Saturday.
The surrender would pave the way for the implementation of US President Donald Trump's call to“spare” the Ukrainian troops, he said.
The TASS news agency quoted him as telling permanent members of the Security Council that Ukraine's military and political leadership needed to order its forces to lay down their weapons and surrender.
At Friday's meeting, Putin assailed Ukrainian forces in Kursk of committing crimes against civilians. However, he acknowledged Trump's wish to spare the soldiers' lives.
Russia was attempting to restore relations with the US, which were immensely damaged by the Biden administration.
However, Putin added:“Overall, the situation is starting to move.“Let's see what comes out of this,” he commented, suggesting the process would not be easy.
