(MENAFN) On Friday, preliminary data revealed by Destatis, the Federal Statistical Office of Germany, indicated that the yearly inflation rate for the current month stood at 2.3% in Germany.

In February, energy products’ costs dropped by 1.8% year-on-year, with prices of food increasing to reach 2.4%.

In comparison to last year, costs of services went up to 3.8% in February.

In February, consumer prices increased by 0.4% compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, core inflation, which eliminates food and energy, stood at 2.6% year-on-year and 0.6% compared to January, both surpassing expectations.

The European Central Bank’s argument for additional interest rate reductions was strengthened by the decrease in inflation.
