Judge rejects restraining Musk’s reaching federal data systems

(MENAFN) On Tuesday, a federal judge refused to impose a brief ban on Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) from gaining access to federal data systems at number of executive branch organizations. This decision represented a setback to a group of Democratic public attorneys general, who were defying Musk’s effect in the government of Trump.

Tanya Chutkan, US Region Judge, dismissed the appeal for restraining Musk’s access to federal data networks for a short-term, mentioning no “imminent, irreparable harm”. However, she expressed worries over Musk’s role in the absence of Senate approval.

Chutkan stated in her verdict “plaintiffs legitimately call into question what appears to be the unchecked authority of an unelected individual and an entity that was not created by Congress and over which it has no oversight.”

If the claims regarding Musk's authority are true, as she also stated, then his actions are "precisely the 'Executive abuses' that the Appointments Clause seeks to prevent."
