Zelensky refuses to acknowledge Russia-US discussions

(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has made it clear that Kiev will not recognize any agreements reached between Russia and the US during their upcoming talks in Saudi Arabia unless Ukrainian representatives are involved. He stated that Ukraine was unaware of the plans between Moscow and Washington and would not accept any discussions about Ukraine that exclude them, calling such talks "null and void."

The US and Russia have started preparations for a meeting between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, which will take place in Saudi Arabia. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Putin’s top foreign policy aide, Yury Ushakov, are set to travel to Riyadh to meet with a US delegation ahead of the presidential meeting.

While Zelensky acknowledged that Russia and the US have a right to engage in bilateral talks, he emphasized that any agreements made without Ukraine's participation will be rejected. The talks will also focus on restoring bilateral relations between the two nations, which have been strained in recent years.

Zelensky is scheduled to visit Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, but he denied that his trip was related to the upcoming talks. However, he did indicate that he would discuss the matter with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during his visit.
