Sybiha: Meetings Of Ukrainian Delegation In Munich Prove Ukraine Is Not Alone

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha held numerous bilateral and multilateral meetings on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference with his colleagues from key partner countries and nations of the Global South. These meetings confirm that Ukraine is not alone.

Sybiha summed up the work of the Ukrainian delegation in Munich in a comment to Ukrinform.

"I can't give you the exact number, but the meetings were non-stop from early morning to late evening. All of these discussions and sessions clearly reaffirm one thing: We are not alone," Sybiha said.

He recalled that a particular focus was placed on the countries of the Global South. Sybiha emphasized that multilateral platforms like the Munich Security Forum are especially useful for meetings with colleagues from those regions whose support Ukraine urgently needs.

"This is the Global South, especially ahead of key global events," he added, referencing Bahrain and Peru, with whom he met on Saturday.

Sybiha also said that he was invited to a meeting of the foreign ministers of the G7, where a very important and strong statement was made regarding continued support for Ukraine. During his speech at the meeting, he outlined the necessary decisions to achieve a just peace and reaffirmed Kyiv's support for the "peace through strength" policy, declared by the new U.S. administration. He also praised the participation of the new U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, in the session, calling it "extremely important."

A separate meeting also took place with a member of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, an important international player from whom Kyiv expects support, particularly considering China's role in the UN Security Council.

Additionally, Sybiha held a separate meeting with Ukraine's closest allies and colleagues from Nordic and Baltic countries.

"I am firmly convinced that this is a critical moment for Europe. It's a defining moment for Ukraine and also for Europe to demonstrate its strength and unity. And these two elements -- strength and unity -- are now more crucial than ever for achieving a just and lasting peace for Ukraine. This is essentially the concept of 'peace through strength,'" Sybiha said.

He added that the Ukrainian delegation is leaving Munich this year with a different mindset than when they arrived, and with a more positive outlook than three years ago, just days before the full-scale war began, when Ukraine's warnings were ignored.

This year's security forum in Munich is being held from February 14 to 16, with the participation of world leaders, politicians, scholars, and public figures who are discussing the most pressing and critical issues related to global stability and security. The Ukrainian issue has emerged as a central topic of the discussions.
