The State Of Qatar Welcomes The Steps Taken By The New Syrian Administration To Enhance Consensus And Unity Among All Syrian Parties

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The State of Qatar welcomed the positive steps taken by the new administration in the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic, especially in preserving the safety of civilians, the stability of state institutions, ensuring the continuity of public services, and securing the essential needs of the Syrian people. It also welcomed the steps taken by the new Syrian administration, with the aim of restructuring the Syrian state, and enhancing consensus and unity among all Syrian parties, in a way that paves the way for consolidating civil peace, security, and stability, and building a state of law, institutions, and development.
This came in the statement of the State of Qatar delivered by Her Excellency Sheikha Alia Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani, Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, at the Security Council briefing on the situation in the Middle East (Syria), at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
Her Excellency pointed out that the State of Qatar is proud of its firm position over the past 13 years alongside the brotherly Syrian people, and its steadfast support for their demands for a dignified life, freedom and social justice, adding that the firm position of the State of Qatar was embodied in the return of fraternal relations with the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic, and was evident during the official visit of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, "may God protect him", on January 30 to the Syrian capital, as the first head of state to visit it after this historic transformation, noting that His Highness congratulated His Excellency the Syrian President Ahmed Al-Shara on the occasion of the victory of the Syrian revolution and his selection as President of the transitional phase, renewing His Highness the State of Qatar's position in support of Syria's unity, sovereignty and independence.
Her Excellency explained that these steps represent the beginning of a new phase that will allow the Syrian people to achieve their legitimate aspirations for freedom, justice and peace. She added that the current phase requires the state to monopolize weapons in a single army that represents all Syrian components without exclusion, in order to preserve the country's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
Her Excellency the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations said:“Based on our moral responsibility towards our brothers in Syria to improve the living and humanitarian situation, the State of Qatar has operated an air bridge carrying humanitarian aid, as thirteen military aircraft have been sent to date with a total of 378 tons of aid. It also recently opened in northern Syria the“City of Hope”, a housing project to accommodate the displaced, under Qatari-Turkish sponsorship, equipped with basic service facilities.”
Her Excellency stated that the current humanitarian situation requires strengthening joint international efforts to increase humanitarian aid and ensure its unhindered access to all affected areas. She continued:“Therefore, the State of Qatar calls for lifting the sanctions due to their negative effects on the Syrian people, and considering that the reasons for imposing them have disappeared.”
In conclusion, Her Excellency reiterated the State of Qatar's condemnation of the Israeli occupation's seizure of the buffer zone with Syria and adjacent sites, stressing that the State of Qatar considers it a dangerous development and a blatant attack on the sovereignty and unity of Syria, and a flagrant violation of international law, adding that the State of Qatar warns against the policy of imposing a fait accompli pursued by the Israeli occupation, which will lead the region to more violence and tension.
She pointed out that the State of Qatar stresses the need for the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities to compel the occupation to comply with international legitimacy resolutions and relevant Security Council resolutions.
