Colombian President Lauds Qatar's Medical, Psychological Care For Gaza Children


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Colombian President Gustavo Petro on Friday visited the residence where the Palestinians are receiving treatment in Qatar, as part of the initiative of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to treat 1,500 Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.
President Petro was welcomed by HE the Minister of State for International Co-operation Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser al-Misnad.
During the visit, the Colombian president was briefed on key services provided to the Palestinians at their residence in the country, including health services, psychological support, training, rehabilitation, education, and others.
President Petro commended Qatar's great efforts in supporting the Palestinians, stressing need to enhance co-operation and intensify all humanitarian efforts to rebuild the Gaza Strip. He expressed his deep appreciation for the State of Qatars efforts in providing medical and psychological care to the children of Gaza, who have suffered the horrors of the Israeli aggression on the Strip.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA) during his visit to Al Thumama Complex, Gustavo Petro stated that here he saw specialized clinics, dedicated care for the children of Gaza, their physical and psychological treatment, and a close look at the protocols for their well-being, family reunification measures, and the social initiatives led by Qatar in solidarity with Palestine.
He added that they want to replicate these initiatives in Latin America, particularly in Colombia, adding that their resources may be limited, but solidarity is measured by intent, even if it is as small as a grain of sand, stressing that humanity must come together to rebuild Gaza, not just as a city in its architectural and urban form, but from a profound humanitarian perspective as well.
President Petro further emphasized the need to restore the social fabric that has been shattered by bombings and genocide, affirming that the Palestinian people deserve a social structure worthy of their resilience and global standing.
Concluding his remarks to QNA, President Petro called on humanity to unite in defense and reconstruction, urging collective action as a true force capable of preserving both nature and life.
The president and his accompanying delegation also listened to a detailed explanation on key services offered to the brothers by the clinics and health facilities available in their residence.
On the sidelines of the visit, President Petro met with a number of Palestinian children who are receiving treatment with their families in Qatar.
