Shopify takes down Kanye West`s website over swastika merch

(MENAFN) Shopify has taken down the online store of rapper and fashion designer Kanye West after the site began selling a T-shirt featuring a swastika. The removal of Yeezywas confirmed by the platform on Tuesday, which stated that West’s store violated its terms by not engaging in authentic commerce practices.

West, also known as Ye, had aired a Super Bowl ad promoting the website, which initially offered various merchandise. However, by Tuesday, only a $20 white T-shirt emblazoned with a swastika and labeled 'HH-01' was available for sale. The Anti-Defamation League condemned the T-shirt, calling it a reference to the Heil Hitler salute.

West had made headlines earlier for anti-Semitic comments, including declaring himself a "Nazi" and expressing admiration for Adolf Hitler. His posts, which targeted the Jewish community, led to widespread backlash.

In addition, a former Yeezy employee filed a lawsuit against West, alleging workplace harassment and discrimination, including anti-Semitic remarks and misogynistic behavior. West has faced similar controversies before, including losing partnerships with major brands such as Adidas and Gap after a previous series of anti-Semitic comments in 2022.

The rapper has also spoken openly about his mental health, previously acknowledging his bipolar disorder and alcoholism before recently claiming to be autistic.
