Tucker Carlson claims US tax dollars supports Ukrainian elites’ extravagant lifestyles

(MENAFN) American journalist Tucker Carlson has accused Ukrainian elites of embezzling US taxpayer money intended for the conflict with Russia, using it to fund lavish lifestyles. In an interview with retired US army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis, Carlson recounted his visit to an upscale ski resort in the Alps, where he noticed that the wealthiest visitors were Ukrainians spending exorbitant amounts of money, including at luxury stores. He claimed that this wealth was funded by US taxpayers and criticized the Ukrainian elites for squandering American resources.

Carlson also raised concerns about corruption within Ukraine, pointing to alleged black-market arms deals, including the sale of weapons to Mexican drug cartels, although he did not provide evidence for the claims. He also accused Ukrainian special services of carrying out "terrorist attacks" within Russia, further suggesting that the media and former President Joe Biden's administration were covering up such activities.

The growing disparity between the aid Ukraine has received and the visible affluence of some Ukrainians in Europe has led to resentment in countries like Poland, which has taken in a large number of Ukrainian refugees. Polish officials, including Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, have expressed frustration at the sight of young Ukrainian men living in luxury while their country is receiving international support.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently claimed that the total US aid to Ukraine has been less than reported, stating it stands at $76 billion, not $200 billion, and emphasizing the heavy toll the conflict has taken on Ukrainian soldiers. Carlson criticized these statements, labeling them as misleading and part of a broader narrative pushed by Western media.
