Lebanon forms new government for first time since 2022
(MENAFN) On Saturday, Nawaf Salam the Lebanese Premier-designate shaped the first new government since 3 years ago.
When previous caretaker Premier Najib Mikati quit his position it was approved by Leader Joseph Aoun in which he stated in a declaration, while he also inked an official order with Salam to shape the new government.
Mahmoud Makiya, Secretary-General of the Premier`s Headquarters, informed journalists that the new government will consist of 24 ministers, together with Salam.
Based on Makiya, Tarek Metri was chosen as deputy premier, while others like Yusuf Raji were designated as foreign minister, Michel Mansi as defense minister, and Yassin Jaber as finance minister.
On January 9, Aoun was voted for as a president, terminating more than couple of years of a presidential void in Lebanon as a result of political conflicts.
Following couple of days of his election, Aoun requested Salam to be his guest, who is a judge with the International Court of Justice, in order to shape a new government.
