Russian Defense Ministry releases footage of Ukrainian kamikaze boat ‘blown to smithereens’
(MENAFN) The Russian Defense Ministry has released footage showing the successful interception and destruction of a Ukrainian kamikaze boat. Ukrainian forces are known to use remotely-controlled speedboats packed with explosives to target Russian-held Crimea. In the footage, the boat is first disabled by a drone strike before a second Russian attack triggers a massive explosion, completely obliterating the craft.
Captured in daylight, the video clearly shows the boat, which is laden with multiple bags and a military-style crate typically used for transporting weapons. Following the initial strike, the follow-up explosion destroys the boat, sending debris into the water.
The operation took place in the Dnieper-Bug estuary, a strategic waterway where the Dnieper River flows into the Black Sea. This area serves as a natural barrier between Russian and Ukrainian-controlled territory along the southern front, where, despite frequent cross-river attacks, the front line has largely remained unchanged. In addition to the destruction of the kamikaze boat, the Russian Ministry reported that up to 45 Ukrainian troops were lost in recent clashes.
