Iran's Leader Khamenei: Negotiation With US On Nuclear Program Is Unwise
Khamenei stated that past experiences have shown that negotiating with the United States does not resolve Iran's issues. During a meeting with Iranian Air Force commanders on February 7, he emphasized that negotiating with the U.S. is neither wise, honorable, nor intelligent.
Khamenei further explained that Iran should not be misled into thinking that sitting down at the negotiation table with the U.S. would automatically solve the country's challenges. He pointed to past negotiations between the Iranian government and the U.S., which ultimately failed to deliver any substantial results.
The Supreme Leader highlighted the experience of the 1990s when Iran engaged in talks with the U.S. and reached an agreement after two years of negotiations. He emphasized that despite the Iranian side showing considerable flexibility and making concessions, the U.S. ultimately failed to honor the deal.
Khamenei referred to the U.S.'s withdrawal from the agreement as evidence of why negotiating with such a government is futile. He stated that Iran had given up significant concessions, yet the U.S. broke the deal, highlighting that their actions left Iran with no reason to trust future negotiations.
The escalating tension between Iran, Israel, and the U.S. has only intensified the political climate. While the U.S. has resumed its maximum pressure campaign against Iran, pushing for sanctions on Iranian oil exports, Khamenei's remarks reflect a hardline stance against further dialogue with the West.
The global community now watches as tensions rise, knowing that any future negotiations are unlikely under these strained circumstances.
As the U.S. and Israel continue to exert pressure on Iran, the political atmosphere remains volatile. This standoff only serves to heighten the ongoing regional conflicts and the broader geopolitical struggle.
