Cairo International Book Fair Lecture Showcases Diversity Of Qatari Culture
Cairo: As part of the cultural events at the 56th Cairo International Book Fair, theater critic Dr. Hassan Rashid presented a paper titled“Overview of Qatari Culture” at a seminar held in the cultural salon of the fair, which continues until February 5.
In his paper, Dr. Hassan Rashid emphasized the diversity and richness of Qatari culture in various literary and artistic fields. He noted that the first to document the cultural history of Qatar was the founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, whose poetry combined wisdom, literature, and chivalry.
Qatar has also seen the passage of several Arab poets throughout its history, in addition to the emergence of notable Qatari figures such as the jurist, judge, and poet Mohammed bin Hassan Al Marzouqi, and poet Mubarak bin Saif Al Thani.
Dr. Rashid also highlighted prominent Qatari creatives in literature, storytelling, and criticism, such as writer Youssef Abdullah Al Naama, one of the earliest Qatari short story writers, and numerous female authors like Wedad Al Kuwari and Hessa Al Awadi.
