Kazakhstan Ratifies Agreement With Russia On Unified Energy System Operations
According to the agreement, the parties are obligated to annually agree on the volumes of electricity planned to be transmitted from Russia through Kazakhstan's unified energy system. Payment for electricity transmission services will be made at a rate set by the authorized Kazakhstan government body responsible for tariff regulation. This rate must not exceed the tariff for electricity transmission to Kazakhstan's domestic consumers.
Ratification of the agreement will minimize deviations in interstate electricity flow balances at the border with Russia and ensure the planned purchase of electricity from the Russian energy system. Additionally, the principles of pricing for the purchase and sale of electricity for interstate flows will be established.
Additionally, this document was signed on November 9, 2023, in the city of Kazakhstan's Astana.
