71,000 ID Cards Blocked By NADRA Over Five Years, KP Tops The List


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) In the past five years, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has blocked over 71,000 identity cards, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) recording the highest number of blocked cards.

Details obtained by a major media outlet reveal that 25,981 identity cards were blocked in KP, the highest among all provinces. Balochistan followed with 20,583 blocked ID cards. Punjab recorded 13,564 blocked cards, while Sindh reported 9,677. Other regions included Islamabad with 1,370 blocked cards, Gilgit-Baltistan with 228, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) with 446.

According to NADRA's documents, a verification process has led to the unblocking of 44,460 ID cards. Meanwhile, investigations into 13,618 blocked cards remain ongoing.

This data sheds light on the extensive verification processes undertaken by NADRA to ensure the integrity of its national database, emphasizing the importance of identity security in Pakistan.
