OPEC Fund expresses readiness to collaborate with Iranian firms

(MENAFN) Iran's Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Abdolnasser Hemmati, met with OPEC Fund President Abdulhamid Alkhalifa in Riyadh on Monday during the 28th WAIPA World Investment Conference. During their discussion, Alkhalifa expressed the OPEC Fund’s readiness to extend services to Iranian companies. This meeting signals the OPEC Fund’s continued interest in supporting Iran's economic growth through financial and technical collaboration. The OPEC Fund has emphasized its willingness to work closely with Iranian contractors and provide them with opportunities to engage in international projects.

Hemmati, on his part, highlighted the importance of introducing the OPEC Fund to Iranian companies more effectively. He proposed organizing a workshop aimed at familiarizing Iranian firms with the fund’s offerings. Hemmati also underscored that the involvement of Iranian contractors in the OPEC Fund’s projects would be highly beneficial. He assured Alkhalifa that Iran would fulfill all its commitments to the fund and welcomed the opportunity for further cooperation. This statement reflects Iran's intention to enhance its engagement with international financial institutions and deepen its economic partnerships.

Alkhalifa praised Iran as one of the most valuable member countries of the OPEC Fund, noting that Iran’s participation has significantly amplified the fund's value. He also mentioned that the OPEC Fund is poised to become one of the largest financial institutions globally in the near future. The Fund’s openness to accepting technical and engineering services from Iranian companies presents a promising opportunity for Iran’s industrial sector, especially in the fields of construction and engineering, where Iranian companies have significant expertise.

The WAIPA Investment Conference, which has been held annually since 1995, provides a platform for discussing global investment trends, challenges, and opportunities. This year’s theme, “Harnessing Digital Transformation and Sustainable Growth, Scaling Investment Opportunities,” reflects the conference's focus on modernizing investment practices in a rapidly changing global economy. The event offers numerous networking opportunities, allowing countries and companies to explore new avenues for collaboration and investment. For Iran, this conference serves as a vital space to engage with international investors and financial institutions to bolster its economic growth and development.
