ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 29. Last year, the
trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Mongolia reached $150
million, with plans to increase this figure to $500 million in the
near future, Trend
reports.
This announcement was made by Kazakhstan's President
Kasym-Jomart Tokayev during an official visit to the capital of
Mongolia, where he held talks with Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin
Khurelsukh.
President Tokayev noted that agreements have been reached to
deepen trade and economic ties, as well as cultural and
humanitarian cooperation, emphasizing that Mongolia is an important
neighbor in the region.
"We share long-standing friendly relations, a common history,
and spiritual and cultural values. It is symbolically significant
for both peoples that our discussions coincide with the 800th
anniversary of Ulus Dzhuchi, a key milestone in Kazakhstan's
history. In recent years, Kazakh-Mongolian relations have developed
dynamically," Tokayev stated.
He added that both Kazakhstan and Mongolia are among the largest
countries in Asia, and thus mutual trade should reflect that scale.
Delegations from the two countries discussed prospects for joint
initiatives in agriculture, industry, transportation, logistics,
and energy.
In response, President Khurelsukh highlighted the strong
historical, cultural, and spiritual ties between the Mongolian and
Kazakh peoples.
"We reviewed our achievements over the past 30 years and engaged
in a productive exchange of views on enriching our cooperation and
expanding it across all areas moving forward. We jointly identified
prospects, priorities, and roadmaps for our interaction," he
remarked.
