This announcement comes amidst concerns over the impact of the prolonged dry spell and heatwave on the region, affecting not only daily life but also the agricultural and horticultural sectors in Kashmir.

However, he added that although it might not be feasible to extend summer breaks for schools at the moment, the administration won't hesitate to make a decision if the current weather conditions continue in Kashmir.

“The administration rescheduled the school hours from morning 8 am to 1 pm in the afternoon, and parents began to complain that their children weren't getting enough sleep. It's also necessary to cover the student's syllabus. It is necessary to cover the student's syllabus as well. There won't be a problem with their attendance if a parent feels that the weather is too hot for their kids to handle,” Div com told reporters here.

The administration, Div Com claimed, has to strike a balance and give an equal weight to students' curricula and other academic pursuits.

“In case the current weather persists, we won't take minutes to declare summer vacations in educational institutions. See the weather will determine whether or not to declare a break as the current conditions are predicted to alter till Sunday evening,” said the Div Com.

The government, Bidhuri said, cannot act hastily in order to provide parents a pretext for declaring winter vacation in the event that winter arrives early.
