Pakistan to increase exports to USD60B in 3 years under new initiative

(MENAFN) Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has assigned the National Export Development Board the ambitious task of raising the country's annual exports to USD60 billion within the next three years, as reported by the Associated Press of Pakistan. The Prime Minister has directed the Ministry of Commerce and other relevant agencies to implement all necessary measures to achieve this target. Sharif highlighted that Pakistan's exports surpassed USD30 billion in the previous fiscal year, noting a significant increase in information technology exports, which now exceed USD3.2 billion, thanks to favorable government policies.

To facilitate this growth, Sharif has instructed the Ministry of Commerce to address the obstacles faced by exporters and to provide him with a report within two weeks. Additionally, he has committed to personally chairing meetings of the National Export Development Council every six weeks to oversee progress and ensure effective implementation of the strategy.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of collective efforts in driving the country's development, commending the business community and investors for their crucial role in boosting exports despite challenging conditions. This initiative reflects Pakistan's strategic focus on expanding its export capabilities and strengthening its position in the global market.
