Iran’s cooperative sector exports goods worth over USD3.8M in past 3 years


(MENAFN) Iran’s cooperative sector exported goods worth over USD3.8 million in the past three years, marking a 24 percent increase. In the last Iranian calendar year 1402, which ended on March 19, cooperative exports reached USD1.7 million, reflecting a 29 percent rise compared to the previous year, according to an Iranian news agency. In the Iranian calendar year 1401, cooperatives achieved a 20 percent increase in exports compared to the preceding year.

Food and agricultural products dominated the cooperative sector's exports during this period. IRICA data indicates that Iran's non-oil commodity exports have grown by 40 percent over the past three years. Non-oil trade in Iran surged from USD74 billion in 2020 to USD116 billion in 2023, a 57 percent increase. The weight of non-oil trade rose from 147 million metric tons (mts) in 2020 to 167 million mts in 2023, showing a 20 percent increase. The value of non-oil exports in 2023 reached USD49 billion, a substantial 40 percent increase compared to the USD35 billion recorded in 2020.

In terms of imports, Iran’s total imports amounted to USD66 billion in the previous year, with USD2 billion allocated for gold bars and USD2.6 billion spent on trucks and truck units. Additionally, Iran’s foreign trade with neighboring countries increased by 10 percent in 2023, surpassing USD61 billion. The transit of goods through Iran also saw a significant increase during this period.
