Turkish turnover index increases by 66.8 percent yr/yr in May


(MENAFN) According to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) on Thursday, Türkiye's total turnover index experienced a substantial increase of 66.8 percent year-on-year in May. This significant growth reflects the robust performance across various sectors within the Turkish economy.

In detail, the turnover index for the construction sector saw the highest annual increase, rising by an impressive 87.4 percent. The services sector followed closely with an 80.6 percent increase, indicating strong demand and activity in this area. The trade sector also performed well, with a 65.1 percent rise in turnover, while the industry sector recorded a 60.4 percent increase. These figures underscore the widespread economic expansion and recovery occurring across multiple industries in Türkiye.

On a monthly basis, the total turnover index showed a modest growth of 0.8 percent in May. When broken down by sector, the construction index rose significantly by 5.7 percent from the previous month, demonstrating continued strength and momentum in the construction industry. The industry sector also showed positive growth, with the index increasing by 1.5 percent, and the services sector experienced a notable rise of 3.4 percent, highlighting ongoing demand for various services.

However, the trade sector faced a slight decline, with the turnover index falling by 0.7 percent on a monthly basis. Despite this minor setback, the overall economic indicators suggest a generally positive trend across most sectors, contributing to the substantial year-on-year growth in Türkiye's total turnover index.
