French multinational rolling stock manufacturer opens new joint venture in east China

(MENAFN) Alstom, the renowned French multinational rolling stock manufacturer, officially inaugurated its new joint venture in Hefei, located in east China's Anhui Province, on Wednesday. The new entity, named Hefei Alstom Rail Transport Equipment Co., Ltd. (HATEE), is funded by Shanghai Alstom Transport Electrical Equipment Co., Ltd. (SATEE) and is slated to commence trial production of its products by October.

HATEE is set to become a pivotal base for the design and manufacturing of traction systems and their components, encompassing project management and lifecycle maintenance services. Among the products to be developed are newly designed metro traction systems tailored for the standardized metro vehicles prevalent in the Chinese market.

This venture marks Alstom's second joint venture in Anhui, following the establishment of CRRC Puzhen Alstom Transportation Systems Co., Ltd. (PATS) in the city of Wuhu. According to Geng Ming, managing director of Alstom China, the creation of HATEE underscores the deepening economic and trade cooperation between China and France. It also represents a strategic move by Alstom to further embed its industrial presence within China.

Geng highlighted that HATEE is expected to significantly contribute to Hefei's rail transit industry chain. It will bolster the city's capacity to expand its rail transit sector both domestically and internationally. The traction equipment designed and manufactured at HATEE will be utilized not only for metro and commuter train projects within China but will also support Alstom's metro vehicles on a global scale.

The establishment of HATEE is a testament to the strengthening economic ties between China and France, while also signifying Alstom's commitment to enhancing its industrial footprint in the Chinese market. This venture is poised to play a crucial role in the advancement of Hefei's rail transit industry and its broader ambitions in the rail sector.
