Joe Biden, First Lady hold dinner for NTO allies, partners
(MENAFN) On Wednesday evening, US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden hosted a dinner at the White House for NATO allies and partners, marking a significant gathering amid the alliance's 75th anniversary summit in Washington, D.C. Addressing the assembled world leaders, including NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Biden expressed gratitude for the presence of so many close allies and friends.
"We’re neighbors, because we all share common beliefs," Biden remarked, underscoring the unity and shared values that bind the 32 NATO allies, despite their diverse languages and geographical distances.
Among the attendees was Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, accompanied by First Lady Emine Erdogan, highlighting Turkey's integral role within the NATO alliance. The summit has convened to address critical challenges facing NATO, with a focus on bolstering deterrence and defense capabilities.
The discussions have also included broader strategic partnerships, evident in the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and delegates from NATO's Indo-Pacific partners. The summit agenda includes meetings of the North Atlantic Council and the NATO-Ukraine Council, where decisions are anticipated to enhance support for Ukraine and deepen partnerships across the Indo-Pacific region.
Secretary General Stoltenberg expressed optimism about the summit's outcomes, anticipating significant decisions aimed at strengthening NATO's defense posture and advancing cooperation with global partners. The event underscores NATO's ongoing commitment to collective security and international cooperation in addressing global security challenges.
